This Privacy Policy explains how ChromeDeal ("we", "us") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our marketplace at chromedeal.ca. By using ChromeDeal, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you register, we collect your name, email address, password (stored as a one-way cryptographic hash — we never store or have access to your actual password), and postal code. Postal code is mandatory: it's used to confirm you're in Canada and to power location-based search, so buyers and sellers can find tires near them.

Listings

If you list tires for sale, we collect the details you provide — tire specifications, price, condition, location, and photos. Listing details are shown publicly to other users; your exact postal code is never shown to other users, only your city, province, and (during a search) an approximate distance.

Messages

If you message another user about a listing, we store the content of that conversation so both participants can see the message history.

Session data

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in, and a separate functional cookie on our Best Winter Tires poll to remember whether you've already voted. We don't use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create and secure your account, and let you sign in
• To show you listings near you, and show your listings to nearby buyers
• To let buyers and sellers message each other about a listing
• To send account-related emails — email verification, password reset — via our email provider, Resend
• To maintain a trustworthy marketplace, including reviewing reports and, where necessary, suspending accounts that violate our Terms of Service

3. Who We Share It With

We don't sell your personal information. We share information only:

• With other users, to the extent your listings, messages, and public profile details (name, city/province) are visible to them as part of using the marketplace
• With service providers who help us operate the platform, currently Resend (for sending account emails) — bound to use your information only to provide that service
• If required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of ChromeDeal, our users, or the public

4. Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, contact us at [email protected] and we'll process your request, subject to any information we're required to retain for legal or accounting reasons.

5. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information, or to withdraw consent for us to process it. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. You can also update your name and postal code directly from your profile at any time.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including hashing passwords and using encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

ChromeDeal is not directed at, and we do not knowingly collect information from, anyone under 18 years of age.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above.
